*The Rope Skills course is an adult course. We would recommend U18s join our regular NICAS courses instead to develop their skills over time. After an adult course, an adult must decide whether they are competent enough to register for unsupervised climbing — whereas an U18 must be passed as competent by an instructor and is likely to need additional sessions after the Rope Skills course before an instructor will sign them off as proficient climbers.

The Reach is a not-for-profit organisation. Our members subsidise the cost of our School & Youth Group bookings — all school sessions are discounted. |

Climbing at The Reach is accessible to a very wide range of people. No experience is necessary. We actively encourage paraclimbers, people with visual or hearing impairments, those with Special Educational Needs and people of all shapes and sizes to climb with us — but please notify us of any additional needs in advance in case we need to put additional resources in place. |

Experienced adult climbers can supervise up to 2 guests as detailed on our bringing guests page.
They may be eligible to climb without supervision after passing a prebooked assessment to demonstrate they meet the required standards.

Designed to develop climbing skills and ability, as well as risk-management and teamwork.

Participants proceed through the scheme at their own pace. Everyone starts at level 1. When you've worked through and completed the level 1 logbook, you can proceed to level 2. |

If you are aged 7 – 17, NICAS level 4 (or equivalent standard) and willing to commit to an ongoing training programme, then you are a perfect fit to join the Youth Squad.
